HARPO TIME BASED PORTFOLIO
Lacustrine Dreams, 2025 - 2026. Installation documentation and video excerpt. Circular vibro-acoustic bed with 200 watts of bass shakers, data quilt, rocks (2 - 200 million years old) sound, video, maps, photo collage. What cannot be adequately documented are the vibrations felt through the body while reclined on the couch. Visitors can trigger new video and sound (one of four representing glacial, hydrologic and seismic phenomena) by touching rocks on specimen table.
Watershed, 2025. Video excerpt. Original 10 minutes. Soundtrack features aquatic field recordings captured with hydrophones beneath the surface of Lake Tahoe in California.
Forest Time Water, 2023. Documentation of interactivity of Forest Time Water installation at Jack Straw Cultural Center, 2023. Guitar chords based on sonified climate data describing storm intensity in the North West Cascades for the last 400 years. Lyrics: “To stay where you were born, rooted, we wander in the wake of our mistakes.” Tracks triggered through capacitive sensors and conductive objects embedded in the installation. Essentially, the installation becomes midi keyboard.
Forest Time Fire, 2019. Video collage of documentation for Forest Time Fire performance with sound and video, original piece 20 minutes, 2018 - 2019. Featuring footage from Sagehen Field Station in Truckee, CA and On the Boards, Northwest New Works Festival, Seattle, WA. Developed during an artist residency consisting of 4, week long stays, one for each season at UC Berkeley’s field station and experimental forest, Forest Time Fire is an eco-feminist sci-fi rock opera on fire-ecology.
