LACUSTRINE DREAMS, 2025

Produced during an artist residency at the University of Nevada, Reno, Lake Tahoe, Lacustrine Dreams is a soma-sonic journey through the geologic time-scale of Lake Tahoe, CA/NV. After working with geologists from the University of Nevada, Reno, data was embedded in the installation, visually, sonically and vibrationally allowing the audience to see hear and feel the geologic processes that formed the region. Rocks on a specimen table range from 5 to 180-200 million years old, foraged from the area and connected to capacitive sensors, that feed data into a laptop, triggering audio and video when the electrical field is disrupted through proximity or touch. The installation also includes an 8 foot circular vibro-acoustic bed that lets the audience hear & FEEL the soundscape. The bed is topped with a data quilt based on 50k years of regional seismic activity. An updated version was shown at the Western Gallery, Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA, 2026.
